Sath chuckled slightly at her astonishment. She appeared to be someone who guarded her expressions as he preferred to do and someone who had never had their expectations challenged. At that thought, his chuckle died off and he closed his eyes for a moment, regaining his composure. His eyes met hers for a moment before looking at the parchment again.
"Of course I can, but you have to lower those expectations for normal peasants."
He studied the writing for a moment. It had been ages since he last read and he wanted a moment to think. Without the rhythm of a hammer pounding on metal or the crackling of fire, his thoughts were jumbled. He wanted one thing out of this arrangement. He wanted his father's lands in Surda. He wanted everything he should have inherited from his parents' deaths. He looked back up at her.
"One thing before I read this. I want something in return."

>> megaera gave a slight sneer. "Normal peasants don't make their way into my alliances. I assure you, if I accepted normal peasants, my army wouldn't even be half of what it is now," she said with almost a growl. She had leaned forward slightly as she spoke, and from that merely you could clearly see how thin she was. An elven trait, obviously, only with the curved body shape of a human. To any healthy person, she would have looked sickly thin. However, this was perfectly normal for her, and in fact, she couldn't gain anymore weight if she tried. Her shoulders were anything but broad, and you could easily trace out her collar bones even when she was standing straight.
>> when Sath had asked for a favor in return to his swearing the oath, she became slightly annoyed. She was not one to wager, but if it would get him to swear to her, then she would give it to him... unless it was too far-fetched a request. She responded with saying "State you conditions," her vibrant, red-orange eyes resting on him. One thing more interesting than her bright eye color was that it had only recently become that color. Just a few minutes ago, they were black and violet-colored.

"It's not anything you might find worthy, but it is my father's estate in Surda. My inheritance."
Sath smirked softly. He had pushed his limits enough for right now and made a mental note of her reactions. In fact, when she leaned closer, it didn't intimidate him at all, only seemed to amuse him. Whatever her reaction to this request would probably decide how he treated her. It was a simple enough request. His father's estate was a small manor that was just big enough to support the residents and his business. Regaining his father's estate would not give him any sort of power or special rank, it would only give him money and to not be a peasant anymore.

>> megaera raised an eyebrow at his request. An inheritance? The most it would give him is a plot of land and money, chances were that it wasn't much money, considering in Alagaësia you were either poor or rich, not in between, and the rich people were all lords and ladies aligned to themselves. She chuckled softly, slightly amused by the request. "If that's it, then I'm sure your inheritance shall be gained soon," she said in return. "In fact, I think we can take a slight detour right now..." She stood for a second, looking over Hvitr's shoulders to see the land below. They were only just above Woadark Lake, and Megaera could wait another day to get back if she had to.

Sath looked away slightly, watching the fields and land move beneath them. He tried to conjure up a memory of his father's estate. Nothing. He could only remember the place of his apprenticeship. He could only remember the sounds of steel against steel and the crackling of a fire consuming coal. He looked back at her as she mentioned something about a detour and said the only thing that came to mind.
