Uskoni sighed as his body hit the ground. His feet were aching! The half-elf pulled his leather boots from his feet and inspected them carefully, looking for any signs of blisters or other uncomfortable sores but all he could find was a blazing redness on the bottom of his heel. Releasing his second sigh, the boy re-fitted the shoe and tightened the stitching at the top.
The half-human-half-elf had followed the Toark River all the way from Tierm, a few of the books from the massive library still in his bag, one of them teaching the Ancient Language. Now, Uskoni knew little of magic, his mother, Freani, knew a fair amount but she had never bothered to teach the young boy any of the words. Therefore all he knew were a few basics. Brisingr, for one, came in handy on the cold nights spent searching for Cerristin.
By now, the sun had reached the very middle of the sky and burned down on the boy, crisping his shoulders where he sat. Uncomfortable, Uskoni rubbed his hand over the burning flesh before making a decision. He stood and tore the shirt from his chest, discarding it on the ground beside his pack, his shoes soon following. The half-ef dug his fingers into the hemming of his pants before deciding otherwise, leaving the garment on his hips. At last, he stood half-naked over the cool waters of Leona Lake, and without hesitation he dove into its depths, resurfacing moments after to shake his hair from his eyes, a bright smile adorning his face.

The wind whipped through the girl's black hair as she flew through the sky atop of the back of her dragon companion, a magnificent dragon that went by the name of Hvitr. She half-stood, her feet secured to a sort of saddle that was strapped to the body of the male dragon, and was at ease as the dragon's wings occasionally flapped to keep them elevated. They flew proud, and strong, for even though it was not uncommon to see a rider atop their dragon that soared through the sky, it was a sight to see Hvitr and his rider in flight. Both the dragon an rider were graceful creatures, with an abnormal strength and knowledge to them. They were proud of themselves, and took to no other.
Megaera, for that was the rider's name, was truly extraordinary, however. A being like no other, a half-breed. She was partially elf, partially human, yet was neither at the same time. She held an appearance that seemed to be a common medium between human and elf; her ears not quite as long or pointed, her face slightly broader than an elf's, and so on. She was swift, and strong. More so than almost any elf could hope to become, and learned quickly. With her studies brought her to be almost as knowledgeable as some of the Eldunarí. She was also different in the way she aged. She matured and aged at the speed of a human. That is, she did until she reached seventeen years of age. Past then, almost no physical changes came over her. The rider wore a cloak that covered her back and left side of her body, and had a collar that was always kept up. Underneath was a simple top that covered her breasts and stomach area, and had thin sleeves that seemed to be merely thin strips of material sewn to the main part of the body. The top cut short at the bottom, to reveal a strip of skin around her waist about two and a half inches wide. For bottoms, she wore extremely loose trousers that were held at her waist with long cloth strips that we're woven loosely to the waist of the trousers and were tied together at the side to prevent from falling down. The same is said for around her ankles and up her calves. Her entire outfit was made of black-colored material, whether it be leather or otherwise. The only part of the outfit that wasn't the same dark shade were her grey-silver gladiator sandals that were worn on her feet.
The dragon and rider were flying up among the clouds when they spotted the lone male alone the Leona River. Thy hadn't even begun their flight together, and already they had someone to instigate. Is he a rider, do you suppose? Hvitr asked Megaera, and in return the mysterious-looking girl said "I greatly doubt it. If he were, he would know of our being here, and it is clearly otherwise..." Her lips were closed, and her paralyzing blue eyes partially narrowed. With an unsaid word, they began their dive to the ground below, and slowly their shadow appeared, getting darker and darker the closer they got until their descent ceased and Hvitr's clawed feet touched the ground, and his white eyes - that, surprisingly, weren't blind - and Megaera's blue ones rested upon the man they landed not far from.

Uskoni bathed in the cool waters of Leona Lake, splashing the water over his bare shoulders onto his back and sighing at the relief the action brought. The sun just seemed way to hot for the half-elf to bare! Sucking in a breath, the boy pinched his nose and threw his entire body under the water before resurfacing, his brown hair dripping water down his straight nose.
He was quite enjoying the water, a break from the heat of the sun blistering his skin and he lay back, allowing the liquid to support his weight as he drifted slowly with the water, back and forth. The slightest of blissful smiles graced the handsome face, muddy eyes closed to the sky above him.
Uskoni must have drifted off for when he opened his eyes, the sun had disappeared and a great shadow had covered his length. Frowning, the human-elf swam to shore and stood, wringing water from the pants that now clung to his thin legs. The earth shook below his feet and Uskoni glanced up, wobbling slightly until his eyes stole sight of a great dragon, the sun now shining down on the half-elf once more.
The male stared up at the metallic colored dragon, its scales flecked with pure white, its eyes the whitest and blindest the male had ever seen. Somewhere inside his head he thanked his lucky stars the giant claws of the beast had missed him, and an image appeared of what he may have looked like had that not been the case. Uskoni flinched slightly at the thought, his brown eyes never leaving the beast, but never finding the half-elf-half-human that stood atop its back. "Woah." He mumbled, his head canting to the right and becoming the only movement the male had made since the beast had caught his eye.

Megaera lifted herself off the leather saddle on Hvitr's back and let herself fall to the ground. Her cloak rippled and blew up as she fell to the ground and landed with ease upon her feet. Hvitr gave a snort and growled Don't flatter yourself, hatchling, through telepathy to the male. Clearly, he was disgusted by this mortal. But then again, there was barely more than one humanoid he took a favouring to. However, Megaera showed almost half a smirk behind emotionless eyes. "Now, now, Finiarel. There is no need to be so rude. After all, it is nothing more than a mere half-breed..." she said in her naturally seductive voice, with a hint of mock pity to be heard.
Behind narrowed eyes, Megaera snickered lightly. From what she could tell, this man would be little more than a pest should he prove obnoxious! It hardly seemed worth the effort to kill him now, however. Maybe, if she found a use for him, she would recruit yet another ally. It would be a great thing to have recruited another half-breed, if, of course, they were alike. If this man proved only to have the weaknesses of their races, it wouldn't be even worth the thought.
